What is Cue points?
Cue points are saved position markers in a track — set in software like Rekordbox, Serato or Traktor — that let a DJ jump instantly to prepared moments: the first beat, a build, a drop or a mix-out point.
Consistent cue-point habits are what make large libraries playable: many DJs use a fixed colour scheme (e.g. first beat, mix-in, break, drop, mix-out) applied to every track, so any tune is instantly navigable mid-set. Hot cues also enable performance techniques — juggling between sections, extending intros, or cutting straight to a drop as a transition. Preparation is invisible in the booth but defines how confident a set feels.
